Paintings Below Zero, February '08, Chicago

In February of '08 the City of Chicago sponsored an art exhibit in Millenium Park. The art, a colorful ice wall measuring 95 feet long and 12 feet tall, was made by Canadian artist Gordon Halloran. The wall involved a lot of technoligy, refrigeration pipes, acrylic paint, and ice molds.
Every day the crew worked on the piece, cleaning off the previous nights frost and adding to parts that had melted. One day the temperature reached 50oF
On February 29 the project ended and the whole piece became a puddle on the ground. The project seemed very fleeting to me.
