Grasses and Sedges
Hi Frank,
The seed was sown into the disturbed area behind your house on December 18.
The mix for the area is below.
The mix is about 65% wildflowers and 35% grasses. A handful of the
wildflowers germinate very easily and should be noticeable the first year,
but will probably not flower until 2010 at the earliest. The other
wildflowers germinate and grow more slowly and will probably take a couple
more years before they flower. The grasses & sedges may germinate and
flower sooner than the wildflowers. Using seeds is the best method for
these repair areas, but patience is needed to see the results of the seeding
- it is certainly not immediate.
The seeds were sown just before a snowfall so that they would be protected from the critters and could wait for the spring.
